The web is
your crate.
A browser built for producers. Find a sound anywhere online, capture it in Craterio, and drop it straight into your session.

Browse any website from inside the plugin. Whatever plays on that page comes out through Craterio like any other track — no separate audio-routing setup, no switching windows.
Craterio can capture audio from any app running on your Mac — not just the built-in browser — straight into a sampler pad, ready to play back or drop into your session.
Craterio keeps the web and app router compact while you browse. Open the sampler when a sound catches your ear and it unfolds into a focused 16-slot capture workspace.
Capture from the built-in browser straight into your DAW.
Sample online audio, trim it, and save it for later.
A/B your mix against released music without breaking your session flow.
Craterio runs free forever with one pad. A license unlocks the rest of the sampler, unlimited saved sites, MIDI vari-speed, and tempo sync.
License key issued and sent by email after purchase — no subscription.
A Mac with Apple Silicon (M1 or newer) running macOS 14.2 or later. It runs as an AU, VST3 or AAX (Pro Tools) plugin in your DAW, or as a standalone app. Intel Macs aren't supported yet.
Yes. In Logic Pro, create a Software Instrument track and load Craterio in its instrument slot (under AU MIDI-controlled Effects); in other DAWs, put it on a MIDI or instrument track. The pads play from C1 (MIDI note 36) upward, with velocity, and the pitch-bend wheel is vari-speed. Right-click a pad to MIDI-learn a different note. Pad 1 works on the free version; all 16 pads, MIDI Learn and vari-speed come with a license.
It's built on the same web engine as Google Chrome, with standard HTTPS, and nothing you type in it is sent to us. It's meant for listening and capturing, so for sensitive accounts — banking, your primary email — we recommend your regular browser. We update the engine with Craterio releases and prioritize critical security fixes.
The built-in browser can't play copy-protected streams, which many streaming services use. APPS can capture audio from apps running on your Mac instead — you're responsible for having the rights to anything you record.
Two at a time — say, your studio machine and your laptop. It's a one-time purchase, not a subscription.
The free version is yours to try for as long as you like. If you buy a license and it isn't working out, you can get a refund within 14 days — see our refund policy.
The Craterio macOS installer is ready — grab it above and start capturing.
Now in Pro Tools too, as an AAX plugin.
